Local Chicago Artists Celebrate the New MSE Campus with Beautiful Murals

The Montessori School of Englewood and local Chicago artists welcome students back for the beginning of the school year with murals of prominant black Chicago figures and vibrant abstract art.

Field Trip to Bronzeville Museum

MSE Pre-K and Kindergarten students visited the Bronzeville Children's Museum, which highlights famous African Americans from the U.S.A and Chicago. Students learn about these famous figures and then get to explore through many interactive exhibits!

Black History Month Assembly

MSE students celebrated Black History Month with an assembly highlighting some of the most prominent figures from the Civil Rights movement, including many figures from right here in Englewood! Local musician Smiley Tillmon came by to perform with our students and play the blues. 



Urban Prep Tie Ceremony

MSE students attended Urban Prep High School's Tie Ceremony, where students who have been accepted to a four year university receive a special tie to wear with pride. Urban Prep students have become a part of MSE, providing mentoring and tutoring throughout the year.  



Valentines Day Dance

MSE students and their families danced the night away to celebrate the season of love! Students enjoyed snacks, a photo booth, and great dance music provided by MSE staffer DJ Tommy #1!

Gardeners Take MSE to Garfield Park Conservatory

Although the garden is closed to winter, the Gardeneers wanted to keep MSE student's thumbs nice and green! They took the fourth grade class on a trip to the Garfield Park Conservatory, where the students went on a scavenger hunt to find and identify specific floral and fauna.
