I have been working at the Montessori School of Englewood for eight years in a variety of positions. My teaching career began sixteen years ago. I taught preschool for eight years. I attended Kennedy - King College, where I obtained my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Later on, I attended Chicago State University and received my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix. I am currently enrolled in a Master's Degree program at the University of Phoenix for Education Administration.

  • Education and Career Background: My education and career background includes my HS Diploma and Paraprofessional license. I have worked with children since 2010 as I was a Child Care Assistant working with children ages from (6months -13yrs). I assisted with homework and taught the infants and toddlers their basic fundamentals for early learning. Furthermore, I then went on to teach scholars at charter schools in the Chicagoland Area. Nevertheless, that has led me here to The Montessori School of Englewood in which has greatly contributed to my ability to collaborate constructively and bridge the gap between families, parents, teachers, and the community.

  • Approach to Learning and Teaching: All children do not learn the same but, together we can make a difference. My approach to learning is to allow the scholars to be innovative and creative. Allow the student to be who they are using resources around them to create ideas.

  • Hobbies/Interests: My hobbies and interests include skating and dominoes.

  • Education and Career Background: In 2015, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). As of August 2020, I will be certified in Montessori Education (6-9). I have served the Englewood community as a Teacher Assistant at Sherrell Christian Childcare for over 3 years. In addition, I worked for the Chicago Partnership for Health Promotion where I provided nutrition education and resources to recipients of SNAP benefits in low-income and underserved communities.

  • Approach to Learning and Teaching: I believe that the most effective way for learning to occur is to guide students as they experience the world with their hands (work, manipulation, experimentation), heads (problem solving, abstract/critical thinking, imagination, creativity), and hearts (passion, compassion, connecting to/respect for nature and others).

  • Hobbies/Interests: I love traveling, games (board games, cards, sports, etc.), music (playing the piano), and spending time with my family and friends.
